NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

FACILITIES:

The competition will be held at the Mentor Civic Arena located at 8600 Munson Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060. The facility is home to dual ice surfaces, both measuring 85’ x 200’ with slightly rounded corners. The venue has spectator seating for 1,200 and ample parking, dressing rooms and snack bar.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES:

Received by Aug. 31, 2011 or midnight on Aug. 31, 2011 if entering on line.  Checks returned for non-sufficient funds and contested credit cards charges will be assessed a $25.00 fee. Payment for fee will be required before a skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or an event.

REFUND POLICY:

Full refunds including practice ice, minus the online processing fee are available if withdrawal is prior to Aug. 31, 2011. After Aug. 31, 2011, entry refunds are only available if the competition is not held or there is a death in the competitor’s immediate family. There will be NO medical refunds given. 

The Chief Referee will determine the outcome of any questions and/or protests throughout the event. 

RULES:

The competition is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating and will be governed by the rules effective for the current competition season, except as modified in this announcement. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules set forth in the 2012 edition of the U.S. FIGURE SKATING rulebook. Test track and other information also available at www.usfigureskating.org.

ELGIBILITY:

Eligible competitors must be current members in good standing of U.S. Figure Skating and shall be eligible to enter events based on their test status (as of August 31, 2011) or compete up one level. Free Skating events are divided into Well-Balance Program FS events and Competitive Test Track FS events. All events will be judged under the 6.0 system. Competitors may enter FS events in one or the other, but not both. Please note the qualifications and requirements for each. Individual events will be cancelled if there are less than two skaters entered. Since time is limited by the requirements of the qualifying competition, events and practice ice sessions may need to be canceled.

FEES:

$90 per event 

PRACTICE ICE:

There will be practice ice available in ½ hour sessions at a cost or $18.00/session.  Practice Ice may be purchased via Entryeeze HERE.  No music will be played.  All practice ice will be at the Civic Arena. Each skater may purchase 2 segments of practice ice.

ADMISSION:

General Admission $10.00/Day

All event ticket $35.00

Children under the age of 10 will be admitted for free

Each skater will receive a credential and one chaperone voucher

AWARDS:

Participants will receive medals for 1st through 4th place. All events will be final rounds.

JUDGING:

The 6.0 judging system will be used for all events.

VIDEO/CAMERA:

Action Photos and video will be available from ProEventPhoto.  Personal videotaping may only be done from the stands with hand-held cameras -–no lights, tripods or taping permitted at rink side. Photographs may be taken of the skater while performing.  WITHOUT A FLASH ONLY. The flash distracts the skater.

EVENTS:

Preliminary FS; Pre-Juvenile FS Open-Juvenile FS; and Preliminary through Senior Test Track. Elements per the U.S. Figure Skating Rule book. Final rounds will be conducted for Preliminary FS, Pre-Juvenile FS and Open Juvenile FS events.

Skaters may enter EITHER the new test track free skate program or the well-balanced track free skate program but NOT both during the same nonqualifying competition. Competitors will skate to music of their choice, vocal music permitted. The 6.0 judging system will be used for all Test Track events.

REGISTRATION DESK:

The registration desk, located in the lobby of the Mentor Civic Arena, will be open at 5 p.m. the day prior to the first full day of practice or at least one hour prior to the first practice ice session and opening on competition days at 7:30 a.m. until 30 minutes after the last event of the competition each day.

CREDENTIALS:

One chaperone and one coach credential will be issued to each competitor at no charge. All coaches are required to:

  • Be current members of U.S. Figure Skating
  • Be current PSA members
  • Complete the U.S. Figure Skating coach registration process
  • Be Category A CER compliant

No chaperone or coaches' credentials will be issued unless their names are on the Entry Form. One additional coach credential and/or one additional chaperone credential may be purchased for an additional $35. Please note: Chaperones are NOT permitted in locker rooms per U.S. Figure Skating policy.

There will be a $50.00 charge for any lost or forgotten credentials. Your credential is required for entry into the facility at all times.

OFFICIAL NOTICES:

An Official Bulletin Board will be maintained near the registration desk. Posting of schedules and announcements shall constitute sufficient notice to competitors, coaches, chaperones and officials.

TRANSPORTATION:

Mentor, Ohio, can be reached by Ohio Route 2, I-90 and I-271 when driving to the competition.

Hopkins International Airport is approximately 36 miles from Mentor and Akron/Canton Airport is 62 miles from Mentor. The airports are serviced by all major airlines.
